Eco-friendly Salons in San Francisco
Natural, organic, non-toxic. These are all words that are popping up a lot in the beauty industry nowadays, and it’s easy to see why: according to Statista, a survey reveals that almost 70 percent of US consumers aged 18 to 29, and 60 percent aged 30 to 59, prefer natural and organic skincare.
We are becoming a lot more aware of what we put onto our skin, thanks to organizations such as the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and their ‘Skin Deep Database’, which gives an easy to understand rating on how “hazardous” a product or a specific ingredient can be. Some ingredients found in beauty products can be absorbed into the bloodstream, so it makes sense to be more selective. It’s not only for our health but for the planets too.
More and more consumers are looking for ways to reduce their impact on the Earth’s environment, causing a growing demand for ‘green’ salons. Fortunately, the owners are listening. Below are a handful in the San Francisco area:

What could be better than heading for a day at the Spa, knowing that your beauty treatments will be carried out using the best, eco-friendly, organic ingredients? At Embody Zen the botanical facials include an enzyme peel and acupressure therapy, which sounds like heaven. Not forgetting their chosen method of depilation – sugaring, which is a very gentle and natural form of hair removal.
An added bonus is that a portion of the profit of your relaxing facial or body treatment will go towards a very good cause.
