If you’re looking for ways to make your business more eco-friendly then you’re heading in the right direction. Market trends and studies show that the demand for green technologies is increasing by the year and more and more consumers expect businesses to already be implementing green changes within their dynamics.

While the idea of green technology often brings to mind bulky solar panels, wind technology and a large capital; sustainable technology is not only for large companies with the space and capital to invest. Small businesses can also find room for improvement that fits into their own budget.

Here are 6 green technologies to look into this year:

    1. Greywater recycling technology. The demand for greywater recycling technologies has been expanding across the U.S and around the world as more regions experience water supply challenges. These technologies allow water used from one activity to be reused for another activity within the same building or outdoor extension such as a garden. The water used can be either rainwater or mains water.

    2. Low-power or non-electronic equipment. There are numerous non-electronic alternatives to exercise equipment or low-power versions which can help gyms, hotels and other establishments save money on energy and reduce their carbon footprint by using less energy sourced from fossil fuels.

    3. Solar and wind harvesting technologies. These clean and renewable sources of energy are ideal for any business looking to go green. Though a variety of models exist in the market, generally speaking slightly larger premises are required for their installation making these more suitable for medium to large businesses. A number of multinational companies have already transitioned to these forms of technology in order to save their companies money in the long run.

    Rainwater tanks

    4. Rainwater tanks. Harvested rainwater directed to the buildings plumbing is a huge energy saving. The water supply that reaches most businesses requires large amounts of energy to be moved from its source, into a processing facility and from the processing plant to its final destination. The energy used throughout the process is obtained from fossil fuels. By putting freely running rainwater to good use you can help keep your business that step ahead in water management.

    5. Cloud storage apps. If your business still relies on physical paper documents then online technologies are a good place to start. Physical paper takes up space and is an unnecessary waste with a heavy impact on the environment. There are a number of platforms and Apps that allow documents to be scanned, stored, shared and uploaded to cloud storage so you can free up office space and help do you part in looking after the planet.

    6. Lighting. Switching to energy efficient light bulbs is one of the easiest and most immediate ways for businesses to save money by thinking long term. Eco-friendlier lighting requires less energy to function and lasts longer.

    Conclusion

Transitioning to environmentally friendly business practices does not have to be expensive. Small changes such as different lighting and less printed documents can have a significant impact on the environment when each business owner takes the courage and effort to implement them.

Regardless of the complexity of change, advancements in renewable technologies are constantly improving and becoming more affordable, making going green a more possible and realistic prospect for businesses than ever before.
